There is a train station at the Malaga Airport that travels directly to Fuengirola. It´s on the Cercanias Line (C1) and the station is called “Aeropuerto”. The train goes as far as Fuengirola. It´s a brilliant service, cheap, clean and efficient and definitely worth thinking about when booking accommodation.
